Kansas City Chiefs Acknowledge Domestic Violence Allegations Involving Wide Receiver the Athlete
The Kansas City Chiefs released a comment on Wednesday evening indicating they have knowledge of claims of abuse made public in online accounts by a ex-partner of wide receiver the athlete and were in contact with the league office.
The organization omitted the name of the player specifically in their statement and said they would have “nothing more to add at this time”.
Allegations Shared on Instagram
The woman, who likewise did not name Rice directly, shared a series of photos on Instagram that seemed to depict signs of physical abuse. Jones did say the individual in question was the parent of her kids, and reports indicate she has two children with the football player, whom the team drafted in the second round.

No police reports were available in Overland Park, Kansas where the incident is said to have taken place.
Rice's Prior Legal Issues
The receiver was absent for the initial part of this season following an NFL suspension for his role in causing a crash on a Texas roadway that left several individuals injured. He was sentenced a month of incarceration and probationary supervision after entering a guilty plea to felony charges.
On the field, Rice finished the season with 53 catches for 571 receiving yards and five TDs as the Kansas City went 6-11 and failed to qualify for the postseason for the first time in a decade.
